Description of organisation

The aim of the Jelgava State City Municipality institution "Community Centre" is to plan, coordinate and implement the municipality's work in the field of community cohesion, voluntary work and youth policy. The functions of the institution are to promote intercultural and intergenerational dialogue, civic participation and tolerance in society, to reduce the risk of social exclusion, and to coordinate the work of non-governmental organisations. To carry out youth work, to implement a youth support programme. Promote and coordinate the development of volunteering opportunities in the municipality, coordinate and promote volunteering. The tasks of the institution are to implement the development programme of the municipality, to participate in the elaboration and implementation of documents. To carry out activities to promote social cohesion, to identify and analyse the needs of the municipality's inhabitants in order to solve problems related to social inclusion. To be involved in the activities of neighbourhood NGOs and to support activities organised by neighbourhood NGOs. To organise events, participate in project competitions to raise funds for the implementation of the Authority's functions. To make proposals to the municipal institutions for the development of youth policy and to coordinate cooperation between the municipal institutions in the field of youth policy, to coordinate the activities of 3 youth centres.
