Das Europäische Informations-Zentrum (EIZ) in der Thüringer Staatskanzlei ist ein etablierter Akteur der europapolitischen Öffentlichkeitsarbeit in Thüringen. Es vermittelt bürgernahe Informationen über europäische Themen im Einklang mit EU-Kommunikationsprioritäten.
Die Förderung des Europagedankens im EIZ hat zwei wesentliche Aufgaben:
Sachliche Information der Thüringer Bürgerinnen und Bürger auf lokaler und regionaler Ebene über die einzelnen Politikbereiche der Europäischen Union. Es bietet Informationen, Beratung, Unterstützung und Antworten auf alle Fragen zur EU und insbesondere zu den Unionsbürgerrechten, den Prioritäten, den Rechtsvorschriften, Strategien, Programmen und Fördermöglichkeiten der EU, insbesondere auch für die Zielgruppe Jugendliche.
Durch Konferenzen und Veranstaltungen regt das EIZ Diskussionen an und leitet die Reaktionen der Bürgerinnen und Bürger an die EU weiter. Das EIZ trägt mit dem Projektteam, dem Angebot an Informationsbroschüren und den zahlreichen Veranstaltungen der europapolitischen Öffentlichkeitsarbeit dazu bei, allen Bürgerinnen und Bürgern in Thüringen einfachen Zugang zu EU-Informationen zu verschaffen und ihnen die Gelegenheit zu bieten, ihre Meinung zu Themen aus allen Tätigkeitsbereichen der EU mitzuteilen und auszutauschen. Das gilt auch für den Kontakt zu EU-Organen. So ist das EIZ auf besondere Weise in der Lage, vor Ort die Arbeit der Vertretungen der Europäischen Kommission und des Informationsbüros des Europäischen Parlaments mit regionalem Bezug zu unterstützen.

The European Information Centre (EIC) in the Thuringian State Chancellery is a well-known institution in the European political landscape of Thuringia which provides information on major European topics in accordance with the communication priorities of the EU.
The promotion of the idea of Europe in the EIC has two main tasks:
Factual information to Thuringian citizens at local and regional level on the various policies of the European Union. It provides information, advice, support and answers to all questions related to the EU and, in particular, EU citizens’ rights, priorities, legislation, strategies, programmes and funding opportunities, especially for young people. Through conferences and events, the EIC stimulates discussions and forwards citizens’ reactions to the EU. The EIC carries with the project team, the offer of information brochures and the numerous European public relations events will help to give all citizens in Thuringia an easy access to the information about EU and to provide them with the opportunity to communicate and share their views on topics from all areas of the EU’s activities. This also applies to contact with EU institutions. In this way, the EIC is able to work in a special way on the ground by the representations of the European Union.
The EIC has the possibility to lend support to the Representation Office of the European Commission and the Information Office of the European Parliament with a regional focus in a special way.
