description of organisation

“La Rete” is strictly connected to Caritas Diocesana, and by its will it has been created. It provides free primary accommodation to people in need, in order to give them back their dignity and their hope by sharing and proving solidarity.
Moreover, through some specifical services, it guides and accompanies people toward their social and working reintegration.

The core values of the association are two: accommodating (the duty of the community is not responding to the need, but meeting the needy) and service (the community must work hard to guarantee a concrete and industrious love to each human being).

Aims:
- to promote social inclusion
- to give concrete answers to the primary needs of those who have difficult living situations in our territory
- to favour occasions of sharing and creating bonds
- to accompany people in need toward a way out of their situation
- to raise awareness about poor people problems in the local area.

Target groups:
- people in need
- homeless

Activities:
- managing Biella's soup kitchen (called Il Pane Quotidiano, which means “the daily bread”) and its Emporio della solidarietà (a centre that distributes food to poor families)
- collaborating to manage the local homeless shelter
- cultural activities inside primary and secondary school about prevention, poverty and solidarity
- accompanying needy people toward their social reintegration, living side by side with them in primary accommodations
- organizing a group of mutual help (called gruppo dei pari, which means “peer group”) to recover working autonomy
- managing agricoltural projects in which people in need and volunteers work together
- supporting people in need through personal conversations with professional operators
- managing accommodations.

This organisation holds a European Solidarity Corps Quality Label. The Quality Label certifies that the organisation is able to run projects in compliance with the principles and objectives of the European Solidarity Corps.
