description of organisation

The School Complex with Integration and Special Units of S. Wyspiański in Waganowice consists of pre-school unit, a Public Primary School and a Special Vocational School. All classes are integrational, additionally we created special classes. We also provide early support and for students with deep degree disabilities we organize revalidation and education classes at home, while ensuring that they have contact with their peers at school. Approximately 200 students, including over 70 with disabilities, attend this seemingly small village school. The school employs 48 teachers including many specialists, 7 people working in services and administration. In the education of students with disabilities in integration classes, alongside leading teachers, there are assisting teachers as well as specialists: pedagogue, psychologist, speech therapist, physiotherapists, therapist. Our teachers are constantly gaining new qualifications and improving their skills.
The school provides appropriate transport for students with disabilities (Funds from PFRON were allocated for two buses) and is fully adapted to their needs. In our school there are ramps, adapted toilets, a well-equipped room for rehabilitation, a playroom, a „household” class, a common room, a new gym built in the passive style for which funds were obtained from various sources. We have very well equipped specialized offices and we use many well-known methods of work including biofeedback which support the comprehensive development of students.

The school has two scouting teams (one team of the Unpaved Road). There is also active Sports Section “Koliber” operating under Special Olympics. In the school there are active: Students' Self-governments, school shop and School Saving Bank (SKO). Students are involved: writing newsletters, taking part in different competitions, trips, rallies, etc. The school also has a Volunteer School Club. The school is very popular in the area, students come to us from many neighboring municipalities. There are also many cases of siblings of our disabled students who join the school. Our school is cooperating with Association “Together for Waganowice”, which try to get the funds for additional youth activities, sport events and trips.

Most of our students are middle-class children, but there are also some from poor families. We have disabled children from the age of 3 up to 24 years. There are students to whom the teachers go home, but we try to make sure that all pupils are able to visit school at least once a year.
