Associazione Ciessevi (hereinafter referred to as CSV Milano) is a non profit organization whose members are Volunteer Organizations and other non profit organizations in the Metropolitan City of Milan. Since 1998 CSV Milano has been managing the Volunteering Supporting Center in the Metropolitan City of Milan. According to the recent National Law for the reform of the Third Sector n. 106/2016, CSV Milano works today as a development agent for volunteering and active citizenship in the Metropolitan city of Milan.
Our Mission can be summarized with the following points: promoting a wide culture of volunteering and solidarity; stimulating, in associations and individuals, forms of participation and active citizenship; organizing, managing and providing technical, training and support services; making volunteers improve their capacities and their awareness about the role they play in the society, as they represent an important resource for the whole community.
CSV Milano has its headquarters in Milan and realizes some activities all around the Metropolitan Area in collaboration with several associations and in partnership with key local public and private institutions (the network of Volunteering Supporting Centers - national and regional levels, Lombardy Region, the Metropolitan City of Milan, Local authority of Education, many universities -Università Bicocca, Università Bocconi, IULM etc.).
The activities of CSV Milano are addressed to: voluntary organizations and other nonprofit organizations (consultancy services, training,communication support); volunteers and people who would like to volunteer (information, training etc.); students, youth and all citizens (through initiatives for the promotion of voluntary activity with particular attention to young people and students - these activities are often organized in collaboration with other local organizations and institutions).
Some of the most important CSV Milano’s projects:
CSV Milano provides training for volunteers, staff of voluntary organizations and aspiring volunteers. In September 2012 CSV Milano launched the University for Volunteers, a programme of structured courses and seminars that enables students to obtain a Certificate, after completing a cycle of courses.
CSV Milano manages other projects which offer volunteering opportunities for young people too. It manages the School and Volunteering project and created the Volunteering Passport tool for students. This project, held in partnership with the Metropolitan City of Milan and the Local Authority for Education, includes a wide range of actions aimed at involving the youngest in volunteering.
Over the years CSV has developed programs to facilitate volunteering experiences among Young people and adults (Volunteering energy for Milan; Volunteering for a day; Employee Volunteering).
CSV Milano helped the Municipality of Milan in developing the project “Case delle Associazioni di Milano” (Houses for Voluntary Associations) aimed at creating a space for nonprofit organizations in any district of the City of Milan. Six houses are already active.
2015 was a very important year for CSV Milano. CSV Milano, in close collaboration with CSVnet, the National Coordination of Volunteering Supporting Centers, managed “The Volunteer Programme for EXPO 2015”. CSV Milano managed the process of selection and creation of groups of volunteers who participate in this experience.
Nearly 5000 volunteers of any ages and coming from different world’s countries took part as volunteers to the Universal Exposition “Expo Milano 2015”.Moreover, in close collaboration with the EU Task Force for Expo Milan 2015, CSV Milano managed the process of selection and training of more than 800 volunteers who participate in “the Volunteer Programme for the Europen Union Pavilion EXPO 2015”.
CSV Milano organizes cultural events and seminars to explore some issues of particular interest for the world of volunteering and active citizenship (volunteering and the environment, the art of integration, inclusive living etc.) In collaboration with other Italian Volunteering Supporting Center, CSV Milano draws up and publishes Vdossier www.vdossier.it an in-depth magazine on issues of volunteering and the non-profit sector.
CSV Milano is also running research activity on Volunteering trends. Since 2005 it realized researched about volunteering organizations and volunteering in the Metropolitan Area of Milan, in partnership with local institutions and Universities.
CSV Milano participated over the years in European various projects aimed at enhancing the transversal skills acquired in voluntary activities and to develop tools to evaluate these skills (Attitudes; Lever up etc).In the last few years CSV Milano has increasingly been promoting the European Voluntary Service (EVS) and, more recently, the European Solidarity Corps among the young people, in schools, through specific events and initiatives and also with interviews one to one.

This organisation holds a European Solidarity Corps Quality Label. The Quality Label certifies that the organisation is able to run projects in compliance with the principles and objectives of the European Solidarity Corps.
