Description of organisation

Foundation "SOS - Families in Risk" is a non-profit organization established in 2003 and is a universal legal successor of the non-profit Association “SOS - families in disfavor” established in 1998. The mission of the Foundation "SOS- Families in Risk" is aimed at improving the quality of life and increasing civic sensitivity, responsibility, and commitment to children, families, and groups at risk or potential risk of negative social phenomena.
The goals of the organization are to assist the society and the state in providing equal opportunities for the citizens for full participation in all spheres of public life; to support the processes of combating and preventing phenomena that violate human rights and/or have a negative impact on the physiological and/or mental health and social functioning of the individual; to create conditions for training and application of professional consulting activity in accordance with the established international standards.
The target groups with which the Foundation "SOS - Families in Risk" work include:
• Women and children, victims or at risk of violence, exploitation, and discriminatory practices
• Children and young people from social institutions
• Women and men offering commercial sexual services
• Professionals from the helping professions
The Foundation is registered with the Agency for Social Assistance at the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy for the provision of social services "Center for Social Rehabilitation and Integration of the Elderly", "Crisis Center for Women and Children Victims of Violence and/or trafficking in human beings", "Crisis center for children" and "Shelter for temporary accommodation of victims of trafficking" at the National Commission for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings. The Foundation is a member of the national alliance "Alliance for protection against gender-based violence".
