Teatro Sol y Tierra is an Association with the purpose of creating a non-formal learning space for young people about four aspects of sustainability: environmental, economic, social and cultural. We organise courses and artistic activities aimed at spreading a sustainable lifestyle. We are situated in the Valdepiélagos Ecovillage, neighborhood of the town were different projects live in a co-housing format. The main features and goals of the project are:
- A philosophy based on the Ecovillage model
- A learning space to develop new skills and the dissemination of new sustainable tools
- Taking care of a small permaculture garden, aiming at food sovereignty.
- Collaboration with Madrid Social Market
- A social experiment based on the cohabitation of young people from different nationalities, using NonViolent Communication as a tool to solve conflicts.
- A lifestyle based on volunteer simplicity to offer concrete solutions to climate crisis, undertaking small ecological footprint habits.
The project is a member of RIE (Red Ibérica de Ecoaldeas) and is in the process of becoming a member of GEN (Global Ecovillage Network). From the beginining one of our goals has been to work with young people, and this is why we are involved in different volunteering networks like European Solidarity Corps and WWOOF. Every month we realize some workshops for young people upon NonViolent Communication, yoga, theatre, meditation or Emotional Intelligence. Around 300 young people have participated in our workshops, meetings and volunteering projects in the last 8 years.
