Pomiechówek Culture Centre, called PomPA, is a municipal cultural institution, which aim is to propagate and create culture for and with the inhabitants of the Pomiechówek Commune. Its seat is located in a modern, functional and user friendly building in Pomiechówek village.
PomPA offers a wide scope of regular activities such as classes of art, drawing and painting, ceramics, unusual art techniques (e.g. string art, marbling, stone art), playing instruments, ballet, modern dance, theatre. Every year it also organises series of meetings such as Adults’ Academy – lectures or workshops for adults; Teatralka – performances for children accompanied by workshops (once a month); Club of Creative Women (a few times per year). PomPA supports functioning of local groups: Senior’s Club, Monther’s Club and a choir. It is also the main organiser of events in the commune with Children Day, harvest festival and its flagship initiative Artbazar (handcraft fair organised before Christmas and Easter) among them. During summer and winter holidays it offers a special programme for children.
PomPA’s cultural offer has been designed for people at all ages starting from very small children to seniors and is constantly adjusted to the needs of the inhabitants of Pomiechowek Commune. What makes it unique is its openness to ideas and initiatives of inhabitants and guests of the commune. Organising regular activities as well as special events and actions demands strong cooperation and each creative and hard-working person is very important and appreciated.
Currently PomPA employs 6 workers and cooperates with 5 instructors of the regular classes. Occasionally it organises traineeships for unemployed local youth. When big events take place, a group of local volunteers help with practical tasks.
Pomiechówek Commune has around 9 thousand inhabitants whereas Pomiechówek village itself around 3 thousand. It is located 45 km from Warsaw and 10 km from the nearest town. The commune has mostly recreational character due to surrounding forests and the Wkra River.
- This organisation holds a European Solidarity Corps Quality Label. The Quality Label certifies that the organisation is able to run projects in compliance with the principles and objectives of the European Solidarity Corps.
