The IEC (Evangelical Church of Castelldefels), as one of its main missions, carries out recognized social work in the city and beyond Castelldefels. For years he has been part of the volunteering sponsored by the City Council, helping in different areas: food distribution from the European Food Bank, collaboration with social workers from the City of Services working with individuals and families in difficult situations (drug addiction, gambling ... ..), I work with children and young people prioritizing equal opportunities (English Summer Camp, Children's parties in
around solidarity). Although we continue with these tasks, but the main project is Imperfect, a solidarity restaurant. We presented the idea to the City Council: open a solidarity restaurant with multiple objectives, (1) feed people in need, (2) include them in a work reintegration program (they work in the restaurant receiving training, monitoring and personalization of coaching to their situation), and (3) encourage the population of Castelldefels to be part of the recovery of these people (anyone from the city who comes to eat at the restaurant with people who are in difficult situations, thus restoring their dignity and opening the door to inclusion real). All this work is done thanks to the help of many volunteer citizens, and today both we and the City Council are satisfied with the results. All the activities that we carry out from the organization aim to put into practice solidarity and work for equal opportunities. As a logical consequence, while we seek that goal, it is accompanied by all volunteers in their growth as a person and in their capacities, to become open, supportive, empathetic and willing to work for the common good. - Imperfect, which is a non-profit solidarity restaurant, where all the profits will be invested in the recovery project and helps people, includes different activities:
-Coaching: which seeks to accompany the volunteer at risk of social exclusion during his process in the restaurant, so that he can obtain different tools for personal and professional development and civic responsibility; that will be key to early inclusion in society. -Training workshops: all kinds of workshops related to the day-to-day in the hospitality sector (Barista, Food Handler, Protocol, Cleaning of rooms and kitchens ...) are carried out, training that allows them to go out into the world working with a learned trade and greater self-confidence. -Individualized accompaniment of each volunteer taking into account their current situation and thus being able to detect what their specific needs are. - English classes for people with few resources, a space in which volunteers from the city and the ESC program share their knowledge of English with people in the city who need it.
- Training for young people: the objective of these training sessions is for the city's young people to acquire values of teamwork, inclusion of all people regardless of their origin and that they can put it into practice by acquiring responsibilities in the organization of other activities. (English summer camp, sports activities) - I work with children: in different activities throughout the year (from weekly activities to specific activities such as English summer camp, children's Olympics, children's festivals and the parade of the float of the Kings Magicians in the city), It is possible to teach children of different origins values such as: solidarity, responsibility, teamwork, equality, respect and care for the environment. - English Summer Camp: a two-week summer camp that seeks to offer different families of people at risk of social exclusion an affordable alternative to the rest of the offers offered in the city. This activity aims to offer equal opportunities. The activities revolve around learning English in a dynamic way and values such as solidarity, responsibility, teamwork, equality, respect and care for the environment. - Food distribution: this is another activity we carry out to promote equal opportunities and the fight against poverty. We continue to collaborate with the Red Cross and other organizations in the management of the solidarity supermarket El Rebost. - Promoting values through sport, organized by youth for youth: this activity is specifically designed to train adolescents in the following way. They organize sporting events that take place in municipal sports facilities, aimed at adolescent audiences with the aim of giving them the opportunity to learn about different sports and at the same time internalizeall the positive values of sport, such as: discipline, effort, teamwork, equality, respect and fair play.
