description of organisation

Centre européen Robert Schuman (CERS) - House of Europe in Scy-Chazelles is an independent, non-profit organization whose mission is to promote the work and memory of the President Robert Schuman-Father of Europe and to get the general public accustomed to the European construction and to the further challenges of the EU. The location of the Founding Father in Scy-Chazelles, FR, (10km from Metz in the North East of France) is a symbolic place for peace between the European countries. It represents a showcase of the European cooperation. It enjoys the interest of the local, regional, sometimes national and even international medias. The proximity of the borders of Luxembourg, Germany and Belgium often allows an international influence of the events organized by the House of Robert Schuman.

CERS was founded at the initiative of the European Commission and the General Council of Moselle on 9 May 2000. Through the educational service of the Museum of Robert Schuman, the CERS hosts about 5000 young Europeans per year with the aim at raising awareness of the European Union and at involving students mainly in a dynamic reflection on the future of Europe. This European education for youth takes usually the form of educational workshops, trainings and cultural events. Our enlarged target group is between 6 to 30 years old and civil society in general.

CERS is, since 2019, an Erasmus+ developer and got a Digital Open badge 'Member of the Erasmus+ developer network'.

This organisation holds a European Solidarity Corps Quality Label. The Quality Label certifies that the organisation is able to run projects in compliance with the principles and objectives of the European Solidarity Corps.
