CAISA is a non-profit institution whose purpose is the pursuit of activities within the scope of cultural action, as well as intervening with people, communities and institutions for the eradication of poverty, social exclusion, injustice, the guarantee of fundamental rights to democracy, education, work, culture, influence on social transformations, in short, the participation in different spheres of activity and the exercise of active citizenship.
We are divided into 4 departments.Education department is composed by: TOCA Academia de Artes Performativas; the Teófilo Braga Senior University, which promotes the active aging of citizens over 55; “Little Caregivers”, an intergenerational and innovative project that combines health, education and the social area. We have also held Creative Workshops aimed at young people at social risk. We conduct Music Therapy sessions and sensory stimulation in Multideficiency Units. In addition, we are responsible for curriculum enrichment activities in the 1st cycle of basic education in a group of schools.
Social department consists of: service and social support office; Vermil Community and Activities Center; Oeste Caregiver - support office for informal caregivers; and psycpsycho- social support.Culture department is composed of: CLAV - Vermil Artistic CentCenter and Laboratory; and for the provision of services to support cultural creation.Health department consists of: CECA - Center for Cognitive Stimulation and Autonomy.

This organisation holds a European Solidarity Corps Quality Label. The Quality Label certifies that the organisation is able to run projects in compliance with the principles and objectives of the European Solidarity Corps.
