Description of organisation

S-Sport // Recreas vzw is a Flemish sports federation, recognized and subsidized by Sport Vlaanderen, where everyone counts. Through supporting sports clubs and organizing sports activities, we offer a recreational range of sports and exercise programs for youngsters and adults with and without disabilities. For us, sport is more than a goal in itself. Sport and exercise are a means to bring people together and to increase solidarity in society. Solidarity and tolerance are the base of our sports federation.
S-Sport // Recreas vzw wants to make a difference for specific target groups that encounter barriers to being sufficiently physically active. We want to use our expertise in introducing the elderly and disabled people into sports and exercise. We create a context where they will receive all the attention and needed cares so that the link between sport, movement and health is even stronger than usually. We believe in an accessible sport and exercise offer for every individual. We believe in reducing the possible obstacles each person may encounter without compromising on quality. We are renowned for our G-football, which allows everyone, young or old, girl or boy, disabled or not, to enjoy football by organizing teams in different geographical areas. This project is well-known for being innovative and we wish to keep on developing this initiative in the future. Cooperation with different partners is therefore central. We want to promote sport and exercise as a means to promote health. Sports clubs should receive the best support from us, which is why we work with regional sports club supporters who are always ready to support sports clubs from nearby.

S-Sport // Recreas vzw, the host organization, will collaborate in this project with JOETZ vzw, which will act both as a co-host organization and as a coordinating organization in this project.

JOETZ vzw is a recognized national youth association that, as a loyal partner of the Socialist Mutualities, acts as a health promoter for, by, with and among children and young people from 3 to 30 years, through activities and training, both locally, supra-locally and internationally; in order to strengthen a sensitized, solidarity-based society and to support it in the development of an environment in which everyone's health and well-being develops in a high-quality, sustainable and participatory way. All activities can have various objectives, but always aim to promote a healthy lifestyle.

With this, JOETZ occupies a unique position within the youth sector.
