description of organisation

The Drug Rehabilitation Centre of the Wandering Youth Rescue Mission ("Kallódó Ifjúságot Mentő Misszió Drogterápiás Otthona" in Hungarian, there's no perfect translation to English because of the differences of the definitions) was etsablished in 1986, then we opened our doors for adolescents too in 2014 on the same location in Ráckeresztúr. Both rehab houses can host 30-30 clients. The aim of our mission is to help for those adolescent or adult people who are seeking for recovery from their drug addiction or any other kind of addictions. We offer an integrated therapeutic method in a holistic point of view, the main values are love, respect and acceptance. The main pillars of the therapy programme is self-help, work and very well structured therapeutic community life. It is important to mention, because the volunteers whom we will host will have their voluntary service in this therapeutic community. The Wandering Youth Rescue Mission is a part of the so called "Drug Mission" of the Hungarian Reformed Church. The two rehab centres are next to each other in Ráckeresztúr, so the volunteers will have opportunity to work in both houses (it is one location). As host organisation we would host young people for volunteering by the European Solidarity Corps on a similar way as we did by the European Voluntary Service, because it worked very well. First of all we are open to host those willing young adults who have fewer opportunities, for example who are ex drug addicted but managing a new sober life already, because we have no prejudice against them. It is the strongest solidarity if ex addicted people do voluntary work for those who are working hard to learn sobriety just now, they are the most true good examples for them, so our aim is to offer a safe place for these young people to feel real solidarity on their skin. They are our target group. Young people who already had recovery of any kind of addictions (volunteers) and who are still in therapy pogramme (clients). The volunteers will always be supported during their activity. The regular activities will be to help the everyday life of the therapeutic community in the rehab: working together in the garden, kitchen, offices, doing sport activities, out-door activities, creative workshops, helping the drama workshop, music therapy workshop, etc. We have an own adventure park (high rope park) and a boulder climbing wall, volunteers can help the clients to use these opportunities too, such as to use it for their own recreation. We believe that every volunteer can find the activity which will be the best for her/him. The volunteers need to accept that the rehab is a Christian organisation but to be religionist is never a requirement. Sobriety is an obvious requirement during their project, respecting our aim, mission and philosophy.

This organisation holds a European Solidarity Corps Quality Label. The Quality Label certifies that the organisation is able to run projects in compliance with the principles and objectives of the European Solidarity Corps.
