Description of organisation

Description:
Športni in mladinski center Piran (ŠIMC) is a public institution established by the Municipality of Piran.
The purpose of the organisation is:
- the implementation of the national sports program and the sports program in the municipality of Piran
- coordination and implementation of sports and youth activities in the municipality of Piran
- management and maintenance of sports and other public facilities in the municipality of Piran.
- providing conditions for creative work of young people
- ensuring the organized implementation of activities of a cultural, educational, informative and social nature with the aim of systematically developing the activities and creativity of young people in our municipality.

Mladinski EPI center Piran is part of Športni in mladinski center Piran. The center operates in two locations in the slovenian coast – in Piran and in Lucija.

Regular activities:
The youth center aims to provide young people living or going to school in the Municipality of Piran with the following:

- a safe place where they can spend their free time
- organized extracurricular activities (theatre, language clubs, arts etc.)
- support and guidance
- help with homework and studying
- international youth exchanges
- volunteering opportunities (in local community or abroad)
- career orientation activities
- organised events (film festival, music etc.)
- mentoring and facilitating young people in organising smaller events for their peers

Both youth centers are open from Monday to Friday in the afternoon (except on public holidays). During the summer (and other school holidays), we organize activities for children aged 6 to 10 years old in the form of a «day camp».

Goals:
Our main goals are to enable kids and youth to spend their free time in a more creative and educational way. With our workshops and cooperation with different organisations we want to contribute to the personal and career development of young people. With different volunteering opportunities and youth exchanges we can improve their employability and transition to the labor market.
Our aim is to give the opportunity to participate in mobility projects to all the young people in our community that would like to do that.

Target group:
The youth that we usually work with are between 9 and 19 years old, but with different activities and projects we try to involve all young people up to the age of 29. The staff consists of 5 youth workers and some volunteers.
