Description of organisation

Since its founding in 1960, Lebenshilfe Berlin has grown from a self-help association into a modern corporate network which covers the entire spectrum of disability assistance. Clients, members and employees are the supporting pillars of the network and work closely together. Our offers and services for children, adolescents and adults with and without disabilities are based on the concept of inclusion. Lebenshilfe aims for a society in which everybody feels welcome in all areas of life from the very beginning and where everybody has a sense of belonging: young and old, people of differing abilities, regardless of origin or ethnicity. Lebenshilfe is planned and organised by people with disabilities, their families, members and employed and voluntary workers. Relatives engage in Management Boards, Supervisory Boards and advisory committees. They are involved in parents groups, work as voluntary helpers and organise an advisory telephone service for parents. Together we want to help the disabled and their families to realize both participation and quality of life. Our focus is on individual abilities, ideas, wishes and needs.
