Kucukcekmece District Governorship, located in the western part of the city of Istanbul, has a location on the Çatalca Peninsula in Çatalca-Kocaeli section in the Marmara Region. It is located 17 km from the city centre and has an area of approximaletely 37,75 km2 and a circumference of 47,33 km. In addition, Istanbul Airport, which is one of the most important airports of the world, is 28 km from the town centre.

The district population is 792,821. Being established in 1987, Türkiye Cumhuriyeti Küçükçekmece Kaymakamlığı (District Governorship of Kucukcekmece) has worked on many issues from disability to education and youth, from elderly problems to homelessness and from diseases to poverty in cooperation with local administrations, organizations and NGOs as the most senior representative in the province.The governor enables the coordination of different public instutitions within the district boundaries. All public personnel and buildings working in the district can be used for public interest by the initiative of the district office. There are over 200 employees working in and online in our district governorship. When the COVID19 pandemia started, there has been built a filiation team within the district governorship. These field teams are responsible for everyday epidemiological investigations; they carry out contact tracing of cases that had different levels of interactions with confirmed cases and monitoring the cases in Kucukcekmece.

Furthermore, the district governor listens public complaints, detects the needs and takes necessary precautions. From this point of view, to carry out research and development studies on the way that Kucukcekmece District is a model district in our country and international platform, to do compatible works with the Provincial Strategy Plans in line with the EU acquis in the process of nominating our country to the EU, to produce projects in line with the needs to be determined by coordinated work with the public, civil and private sectors and to be involved in resource generation activity in projects from national and internatonal funds and grants, "Project Development and Implementation Unit (PDIU)" was established in our district governorship in 2015 to support the projects carried out in Kucukcekmece District and to ensure coordination throughout the province.

In PDIU department there works a Project coordinator, an assistant coordinator and 2 project experts. To raise the quailty of life in our town, protect natural and cultural wealth, increase existing workforce potential and industry, we are running projects with the Governorship of Istanbul, Municipality of Kucukcekmece, NGOs, the bussiness sector and all our stakeholders. The departmant also working as a Eurodesk contact point and aims to produce new projects both national and international mostly on young people and coordinates projects on ESC, sending volunteers as a "Sender" and "Coordinator" role with ESC Accreditation Certificate numbered AGH-2018/021.
