Description of organisation

Since its founding in 1959, the Institut für Europäische Politik (IEP) has been a non-profit organization dedicated to the study of European integration as one of the leading foreign and European policy research centres in the Federal Republic of Germany. One of the prime efforts of IEP is to conduct and organize research on European integration and publish the results in various formats. Also, teaching and training in Master and PhD support programmes and developing teaching materials is an important element of IEP’s work.
IEP furthers the understanding of the EU and EU policy-making by involving citizens in public debates, workshops, seminars, conferences and trainings, and by its publications both in print and online. Citizens have opportunities for political and intercultural dialogue in many fora of IEP in Germany and other member states. This allows for debate and reflection between experts, politicians, and citizens on the future of Europe. It is particularly this hub function alongside its publications in German and English that characterizes the IEP and its multinational and intercultural work.
As an accredited youth volunteering organisation, IEP wants to bring the European Union closer to its younger citizens. By offering and taking part in Erasmus+ volunteering activities, IEP aims at providing new opportunities for young interested European citizens to deepen their knowledge and research experiences on European policies, to gather first-hand experience in the working methods of a European think tank, and to develop their individual capacity and possible career paths, and improve their language knowledge by working in a German but also multinational environment.

  • This organisation is accredited to run projects under Erasmus+ Volunteering and the European Solidarity Corps.
  • This organisation holds a European Solidarity Corps Quality Label. The Quality Label certifies that the organisation is able to run projects in compliance with the principles and objectives of the European Solidarity Corps.
