Claudio Monteverdi Higher Institute of Musical Studies, the Cremona Conservatory, was born from the equalization at the State Conservatories in 2002 of the 'Claudio Monteverdi' Civic School, founded in the seventies.
Since 2007 it has been included in full qualification in Higher Education in Art and Music, part of the Ministry of University and Research, and adheres to the European system of ECTS training credits. Claudio Monteverdi Institute has become a point of reference for artistic and didactic training, offers a varied training offer and is at the center of musical education in the area and beyond.
It collaborates with the Department of Musicology of Cremona - University of Pavia and is sustained by the State, the Municipality and the Walter Stauffer Foundation.
It carries out artistic production activities with a season of concerts "Les Matinèes del Monteverdi" at the Civic Museum of Cremona and many other artistic production projects in collaboration with the Ponchielli Theater and the Monteverdi Festival, with the Violin Museum, with FAI - Fondo Ambiente Italiano, with the Bocconi University of Milan, with the Lombardy Region and EUSALP, with the CIDIM of Rome and with the National Concert Associations.
The Monteverdi Conservatory is part of the Erasmus Plus project and has close relationships with numerous Music Universities in Austria, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Spain, Sweden.
In addition to European relations, international agreements are active with Korea and students benefit from constant contact with orchestras and musical ensembles that come to Cremona with the Cremona Masterclass project promoted by the Cremona Chamber of Commerce.
The collaboration with the Cremona Summer Academy, an international summer academy created in synergy with teachers from the United States, Russia, Japan and other countries, has led to the production of hundreds of musical events.
The "Claudio Monteverdi" Higher Institute of Musical Studies is included in the Cultural District of Violin Making together with the "A. Stradivari ”, International Violin Making School, Cr. Forma - Special Company for professional training services of the Province of Cremona, the University of Pavia - Department of Musicology and Cultural Heritage, the Polytechnic of Milan - Territorial Center of Cremona, the scientific laboratories at the Violin Museum and over 70 violin makers Cremonese.
In this way the local system supports the enhancement of the heritage of classical violin making, musical culture and contemporary Cremonese violin making.
In 2019 an agreement was signed for the launch of a federation together with the ISSM Donizetti of Bergamo, the ISSM Puccini of Gallarate and the ISSM Vittadini of Pavia for the enhancement of training resources implemented in synergy between the institutions and for projects of artistic production.
The "Conservatorio per Tutti" project, brings together all the activities outside the Higher Artistic and Musical Education that are part of the permanent and recurring training activated by the Conservatory.
Among the activities, basic training courses for instrument and singing and free courses for instrument and singing.
The ESC volunteering hosting project will be coordinated and supported by Cremona Municipality - Servizio Progetti e Risorse, who has a long successful experience in the field.

This organisation holds a European Solidarity Corps Quality Label. The Quality Label certifies that the organisation is able to run projects in compliance with the principles and objectives of the European Solidarity Corps.
