description of organisation

Desafio das Letras is a portuguese SME created in 2006 that has for aim publishing, organizing training and occupational activities (including bootcamps and volunteering), social and technical events, as well as research, development, innovation and consultancy works on the areas of rural development, environmental protection, sustainable tourism and nature and biodiversity conservation.

Target groups of our activities include individuals (the general public, students, volunteers, including the young, the elderly and the disabled) as well as entities (including private companies, non-profit organizations and public bodies), with whom we either promote joint works and projects and/or to whom we provide services/products related to the above referred sectoral areas of activity.

Among other activities, Desafio das Letras is regularly involved in the design, application and support to management of several LIFE Programme funded projects where volunteering, capacity building, training and similar works are essential activities. Many of these are planned, supervised and implemented with the support of our internal team and/or external collaborators. In addition, under the heading/brand experience.NATURE, Desafio das Letras has been promoting, in partnership with identical stakeholders, throughout Portugal, a set of pilot programmes and activities, directed at capacitating local agents to undertake identical works, which provide a combined mix of tourism and "voluntourism" like activities to engage the general public in biodiversity conservation.

Many of these are planned, supervised and implemented with the support of our internal team and/or external collaborators (within this including activities with several target audiences, that occur on a monthly, quarterly or non regular basis, depending on the project needs) . These embraced, for each target region (which included areas like the Schist Villages Network, Terras de Sicó, and other regions), the promotion od monthly, quarterly or semester based activities, previously planned and scheduled with the local partners in order to better attain its targets and outputs.
