Description of organisation
The pre-school educational establishment “Urdaviņa” was opened on April 1, 1986 and can be compared with a meadow of flowers, because the childcare groups are named after flowers: Anemones, Sunflowers, Thistles, Tussilago, Dandelions, Marsh Marigolds, Briar-Roses, Forget-me-nots, Red Clover, Violets, Cat’s Foot, Daisies, Cornflowers, Poppies and Bellflowers.
Statistical information:
The total number of students 354 (for the 2018/2019 school year), in groups up to 27 children, 16 groups:
• 3 groups of children under age of 3
• 13 groups of children aged 3-7
There are 32 pre-school education teachers, 3 music teachers, 2 physical development teachers, 2 speech therapists, a special educator, a psychologist, a physiotherapist and 30 technical staff members.
Pedagogical work:
The pre-school educational institution shall implementē three educational programmes:
• Pre-primary education programme (programme code 01011111);
• Special pre-school education programme for learners with mixed developmental disabilities (programme code 01015611);
• Special pre-school education programme for learners with lanuage disabilities (programme code 01015511).
Priorities of the pedagogical process:
• Reinforce self-service skills in the day-to-day rhythm of children
• Further developing an environment conductive to the development of children for enrichment of practical learning experience
• Create a desire for children to explore, experiment and evaluate a variety of information and situations in the learning process.
• Raise awareness of personal safety rules in different life situations.
The main lines of the learning organisation in working with children: one of the tools widely used for learning is a play; individual approach to learning by encouraging children to make their own choices; creating an environment within the group: cozy, secure, contributory to imagination skills of the children as well as developing independent and creative research action of children; promoting individual development of each child based on family cooperation.
Main events:
Folk Tradition Celebration: Miķeļi, Mārtiņi, Christmas, Meteņi, Easter, Midsummer, Sport Days, Family Days with parents; pre-school birthday, report concerts, Graduation.
In the afternoon, children participate in the interest clubs- dancing folk dance, doing sports and embracing the basics of English, Robotics and checkers.
The motto: ‘Children are flowers in the garden of God’s World that are temporarily entrusted to our love’.
