Blhyster is a social cooperative born in January 2017, and since its beginning, has tried to establish actions and activities for the community. The activities of the Cooperative have always been carried out within the social field, and in particular the main aims of the cooperative are that of supporting and helping young people with fewer opportunities or problems with their studies and homework, supporting disadvantaged people or socially excluded people through job placement, supporting and hosting abused women, victims of domestic violence, victims of gender violence or disadvantaged families.
Some of the main projects and initiatives that have been carried out by Blhyster in these two years were:
• Job placement of disadvantaged people, whose objective was not only that of identifying people with fewer opportunities or disadvantaged, but it is also the result of a gradual path of mutual knowledge and accompaniment inside a working group of the cooperative, in order to recreate a new and proactive identity;
• Reception of asylum seekers, whose reception was integrated and enriched with proposals that involved different realities, in order to favour a better integration in the territory. Among the different projects that were born after the collaborations with these different realities, there were activities like walking bus, intercultural laboratories among asylum seekers and some children from primary school, social works in collaboration with the local municipality, and volunteering with the associations and organizations of the local territory;
• Support and active job placement research;
• Counselling and social/regulatory support;
• Activities of information and promotion at local high schools;
• Multi disciplinarian team work;
• Educational services like studying mentoring, with the establishment of new spaces, such as a free open space for studying and playing. This space has been created to support young people from primary and middle school during the school year;
• Summer camps with creative activities for children during the summer break;
• Recreational activities for families with the possibility of sharing and using some of the spaces made available by the cooperative;
• “Welfare and Family” project, a three-years project aimed to intercept critical situations of young pre-adolescents, aged between 11 and 16, coordinated by ULSS 1 “Dolomiti” and financed by Cariverona Foundation. In this project, the cooperative takes care of some specific services. Besides managing a specific space for studying and meeting for young people, a series of activities will be implemented together with the municipality of Agordo, and all the trainings and educational activities will be executed by the cooperative for teachers, professors and trainers of the province involved in the workshops carried out by the project partner municipalities;
• Co-management and hospitality of the spaces of the cooperative with many local mutual aid groups. Recently, the cooperative has activated a group for psychiatric people in collaboration with the department of mental health.
