Description of organisation

The Project Activity and Development unit manages projects and development commissions according to the city council strategy in the city of Raahe. In addition, the Project Activity and Development unit organises a variety of events as well as workshops designed to help reduce unemployment and to activate the long-term unemployed. At the time of writing, there are 20 different on-going projects in various stages of planning and development. The workshop activities take place in five separatet workshops (IT, media, handicraft, office, garden and nature) as well as in Café Kampus, in which those interested in catering can learn new skills and try out work in a cafeteria. The unit employs 13 paid workers, two students on an apprenticeship contract, as well as a varying number of employees. The focus in the workshops is a genuine interest in learning and doing, as well as a willingness to commit to producing quality work in collaboration with the teams.

One of the purposes of the Project Activity and Development unit is to ensure that the city of Raahe is an active agent and an enabler, thus creating conditions, possibilities and diverse tools for the city and its citizens. The activities highlight spontaneity, courageous willingness to regenerate, as well as experimental activity.
