Essex Boys and Girls Clubs (EBGC) was founded in 1939. Since then we have been working with clubs across Essex and East London to create opportunities for young people aged 11-25 to develop their character, enhance their skills and build their own bright future. We have 20 full time staff, who works with 125 clubs, with approximately 10,000 members across Essex and East London, delivering sports events, challenging outdoor activities and targeted youth projects, with a team of experienced youth workers, sports coaches and outdoor instructors. Much of our work takes place with young people from deprived areas or from low income backgrounds. Our work is varied and includes supporting affiliated clubs and their leaders, volunteers and members. We provide an activity programme for affiliated clubs to take part in; this includes a range of sports competitions, residential work, and challenging outdoor experiences. We also offer a structured volunteering programme, through our V-Team, with opportunities for volunteers to gain qualifications, including Level 1 Introduction to Youth Work and Level 2 Certificate in Youth Work Practice. Our volunteering team is formed of more than 100+ active people with a broad age range and diversity. The diversity, both culturally and in age, are a strength of our programmes and enhances their inclusivity. Volunteers are crucial to our programmes, youth clubs and to the work we do, they are integral to our growth, and we are keen to support their growth and personal development through offering access to a range of diverse opportunities.
