Casa dos Choupos, with its 10 years of existence, is made up of young people from the Municipality with diverse concerns in the area of inclusion of social development. Founded in 2008, it develops innovative and atypical responses to community needs. Casa dos Choupos - Multisectoral Cooperative for Social Solidarity, CRL was founded in 2008 and aims to present innovative and atypical responses to the needs and areas of interest of the community in which it operates and of civil society, fostering progress and social sustainability. It has established a partnership protocol with the Municipality of Santa Maria da Feira for the promotion of responses relevant to the social development of this county.
From August 2011 to August 2014, he assumes the coordination of the Rights & Challenges Project (under the Local Social Development Contract Program of the Social Security Institute). In January 2016 he assumes the coordination of the Rights & Challenges Project.
It develops different services in the scope of local social development: the ALPE - Local Agency for Employment; o Espaço Trevo - office to support domestic violence situations; the Family Space; the Stork & Company (support for young pregnant women and parents at social risk); promotes and develops the Fertile Ground project, which includes an area of community gardens, pedagogic gardens, training and workshops and various activities with the goal of involving and stimulating community participation.
In the area of support and social support, the Smiles Program - support for the dental treatment of children and young people of the municipality (in partnership with local dental clinics), the Solidarity Market - food support (in partnership with the Red Cross - Sanguedo), the Anchor Service - emergency social support to families in crisis situation and coordinates the Local Social Intervention Network of Santa Maria da Feira.
Provides services in the area of Housing Maintenance and Repair and in the area of technical support to the development of activities to promote Gender Equality.
He also promotes and supports two art intervention groups: the Rufus & Circus percussion group and the Intergenerational Poetry in the Body group. Body in Poetry, whose main objective is to promote the participation and citizenship of the community of this territory and to foster the development of social, psychological and cultural competences of the participants, through art, through the use of music, movement, body expression and literary works.
It has a network of local volunteers, since it is an executor of the integerational volunteer program promoted by the Municipality of Santa Maria da Feira in areas such as health, social action, support for seniors, childhood, support for social inclusion through art, support to food collection campaigns, etc.
