IL NODO is a consortium of II level cooperatives established in 2000 by 14 social cooperatives ac-tive in the province of Catania, to respond to a shared need to operate "in the network" to tackle the issues and problems of social entrepreneurship. To date, there are 5 cooperatives of “type A” (dedicated to personal services), 5 of “type B” (social enterprises whose aim is to reintegrate at work people with reduced opportunities) and a non-profit association.
Consortium IL NODO provides social and assistance services, with an optic in assisting, supporting and empowering people in difficulty, to whom interventions are addressed.
Their target reference are minors and young Italians, unaccompanied foreign minors, migrants adult asylum seekers, people and families with social problems, disabled and senior citizens.
For 18 years (since 2001) the Consortium IL NODO deals in welcoming adults and migrant minors: through an "integrated" welcome system, it guarantees a global managements of the beneficiar-ies' needs, in order to get out of an emergency type logic and build a model of complete, effec-tive, long-term integration, which prevents phenomena of marginalization and promotes the path of re-conquest autonomy of the person.
The Il Nodo Consortium also carries out many projects and interventions in favor of young people, particularly engaging in the construction of actions to promote active and responsible citizenship, education in the culture of legality, prevention of drug addiction and / or of an indiscriminate and irresponsible use of the web, also thanks to forms of synergy and collaboration with schools.
Finally, the Consortium deals with the development of active youth policies and takes care of the job placement of disadvantaged people, activating accompanying and tutoring practices that are highly personalized and user-centered.
