"Ambito Sociale di Bitonto" is the body for the management of the social services in the district of Bitonto and Palo del Colle. This body is composed by an political part called "Coordinamento Istituzionale" and a administrative-technical part so called "Ufficio di Piano".
A coordinator ensure the implementation of social service in the district such as:
- the proposal for the "Piano di Zona" and the social budgeting accomplished with the guidelines declared by the mayors of the district;
- activation of relations with partners and stakeholders on the basis of mayors guidelines;
- monitoring of the "Piano di Zona" state of art, pointing out difficulties regarding the objectives of the plan;
- supporting the mayors committee in the implementation and coordination of the social promotion officies.
In this way the "Piano Sociale di Zona" (social zone plan) is administrated and implemented throught an association of municipalities so called "Ambito Territoriale". A contract (convenzione) between municipalities clarifies rights and duties of all the parties involved and set up the creation of an office so-called "Ufficio di Piano".
Therefore "Ufficio di Piano" is the administrative-technical-financial body for the implementation of the welfare integrat system. Its activities are:
- preparation of programmes and plans;
- implementation of the zone plan (piano di zona);
- activation and coordination of the consultation table among social and institutional stakeholders,
- data research and analysis of the thematic workshops of the consultation table;
- definition of the strategic abjectives and priorities of the zone plan (piano di zona);
- preparation of the zone plan;
- Implementation of the "Coordinamento Istituzionale" decisions;
- Monitoring and overview of services.

"Ambito Sociale" is an expression of the municipality of Bitonto and aims at networking ideas and skills, using competences and expertise already present on the territory. It promotes a process of shared growth between Authorities, associations and economic operators interested in implementing a strategy that meets the social care, promotion and development of the local community and the territory.
The organization manages socio-cultural activities within the cities of Bitonto and Palo del Colle, training internships, "income support" projects (green maintenance, park cleaning, park surveillance), elderly and minors assistance, technological innovation projects ( Technological Pole), recreational and sports activities.
One of our most successful project is the "cantieri innovativi di anti-mafia sociale" consisting in an action targeting youngsters between 14 and 18 years at risk of deviance by organizing educational workshops and recreational initiatives. Those activities include musical, artistic, cultural and technological areas to avoid latter fit into criminal contexts.
