description of organisation

The Camphill Village Community Hermannsberg is a large residential and work community for adults with disabilities, located near Lake Constance in southwestern Germany. A total of 110 special needs people – our residents - currently live at the community in family-like residential groups. Approximately 70 employees, 5 German volunteers, and about 15 international volunteers support the residents by living together with them in the same household. The employees and volunteers concentrate especially on integrative work with the residents with disabilities, who require particular care and attention during their work and leisure time. The residents have ample opportunities to develop their skills in numerous workshops, including paper, herb, hand weaving, and candle production, a carpenter’s shop, house laundry, house garden and farm area, and biodynamic agriculture. The venue is a beautiful rural area, only 15 km away from the city Überlingen and the lovely Lake Constance. Local public transportation exists, but runs rather seldom.
