Description of organisation

Pokhara is youth organization working though a non-formal education program to prevent drug consumption among youngsters between 12 and 30 years old, all of them with fewer opportunities. They face many different situations like unstructured families, gender violence, low self-stime, bullying, parents using drugs, etc. We work in 7 different locations from Ciudad Real province, with more than 500 youngsters every year, as well as, their families. We work in net with different agents: social services, educational centres, psychiatric hospital, local government, etc. Our working methodology is Selective and Indicated prevention, which aims to offer them a different way of interacting, living, thinking and developing.
Our objectives are:
- Develop Socio-educational Programs and Projects for the selective and indicated prevention of drug use for young people
- Implement socio-educational actions that favour the personal and social development of the child and youth population at risk of social exclusion
- Encourage networking between the different agents that intervene with the youth population to establish effective inclusion measures with this population
- Involve the different socializing agents of the adolescent youth population, that is, family, peer group, community and educational centres, in the different socio-educational actions.
- Organize training activities, seminars, courses, congresses that promote the visibility and study of the youth population at risk of exclusion
- Carry out social research based on evaluations of the effectiveness of the different actions developed with the youth population at risk
- Promote actions within the Erasmus + and European Solidarity Corps Programs that involve the youth population at risk.
- Achieve measurable, positive and social impacts
- Provide services or goods that generate a reinvestment in society
- Employ methods of production of goods or services that incorporate our social objective

In order to achieve all this objectives, Pokhara carry out the following kind of activities:

o Socio-educational program:
- Educational level: group socio-educational actions on social and communication skills, health education, values education, environmental education, street education and individualized educational interventions. School support.
- Family level: family interventions and mediation. Group educational programs for families. Leisure activities and free time with the family.
- Socio-labour level: Projects and activities of socio-labour orientation outside and within educational centres. Youth guarantee.
- Leisure and free time level: leisure activities and healthy free time.
- Community participation level: Cultural activities and associative participation. Youth exchanges within the European Erasmus + Program. Individual volunteering within ECS Program.
- Networking level: meetings between different agents to establish proposals for action.

o Training activities, seminars, courses, congresses that promote the visibility and study of the youth population at risk of exclusion
o Social research within the scope of the child and youth population.
