DSR SUPERKID (SuperKid) is a non-profit sport organisation with a goal to promote sport and a healthy lifestyle for children and young people (from 4 to 29 years of age). SuperKid carries out regular activities at 20 different locations mainly in Zagreb whereas the two locations are in Rijeka. They offer various programmes for motor development such as gymnastics, athletics, martial arts, basketball, football, handball, volleyball, tennis and universal school of sport.
Sport programmes are structured as adapted training sessions for this certain age while taking into account children's and young people's cognitive, conative and physical development. They are carried out during a certain period of season while the universal school of sport is held during the whole year. Professional experts - kinesiologists are leading the programme and on a step-by-step approach, they engage children and young people in different sport disciplines. Sport programmes are organised on high professional level, completely safe for participants and in line with the latest scientific methods. Locations of activities are in different places at cities, depends on the specificities of each sport disciplines. Hence, activities are organised at kindergartens, swimming pools, ice skating rinks, mountains etc.
All SuperKid participants may take part regardless of gender, sex, religion, belief, nationality or race. Occasionally, SuperKid collaborates with centres that work with children and young people in needs and offer them to take part in sport programmes free of charge. There are about 2000 participants taking part on a yearly basis.
One of the cornerstones of the organisation is initiating Erasmus+ Sport projects in 2018 with the aim to exchange best practices at the international level. These projects created new partnerships across Europe brought fresh ideas on the table and conceive new approaches in this field.
SuperKid stands for an inclusive sport for everyone, especially for children and young people. SuperKid promotes fair- play, teamwork, quality, professional training and safety principles. SuperKid respects equal treatment, dignity and human rights. The organisation acknowledges health enhancing physical activity (HEPA) as an important pillar for healthy exercising. To this end, SuperKid initiated partnerships with key actors at local, national and international level.
SuperKid sport programmes are verified by the Ministry of Science and Education. Croatian Institute for Public Health, Andrija Stampar Teaching Institute of Public Health (City of Zagreb) and Faculty of Kinesiology University of Zagreb are partner organisations of SuperKid. There are many other supporters of our work. They are coming from sport and private sector
SuperKid identified the importance of inclusion of children and young people with fewer opportunities into sport as they are usually missing benefits that sport offer. That is why the ESC project is needed and will tackle this problem in local community. Furthermore, European Solidarity Corps project will embed new and high-quality international activities into local community. We want to learn from young people, we are eager to bring an EU dimension to the organisation and offer fresh, new ideas in the field of sport and a healthy lifestyle. Besides, this project will bring an added value to the community by welcoming two young international volunteers as well as integrate those children and young people with limited access to sport, into regular sport activities and a healthy lifestyle.
