MISSION, VISION AND STUCTURES:
JRS-Belgium is a NGO created in 2001 and established as a non-profit organisation in 2007. It is a bilingual (French and Dutch) office based in Brussels. JRS Belgium is part of the Jesuit Refugee Service, a worldwide non-governmental organization currently present in over 50 countries and founded in 1980 and of JRS-Europe, founded in 2004. JRS Belgium mandate is to accompany, serve and advocate with and for the rights of refugees and forcibly displaced people. Through its daily work, JRS-Belgium aims to protect and improve the recognition of the fundamental rights of forced migrants. JRS Belgium strives to raise public awareness in order to foster an inclusive society for this group.

MAIN ACTIVITIES:
1) Accompany, serve and advocate refugees and migrants in detention centers
and in return-houses and closed family units in Belgium.
2) Policy and Advocacy work
based on the analysis of the relevant legislation and direct advocacy towards the key stakeholders at
the Belgian level;
4) Strategic planning;
5) Communication and media.
JRS- Belgium Europe is also part of other networks such Transit group (network with other organisations working in detention such as Myria, Ciré, Vluchtelingenwerk Vlaanderen, APD and
Nansen and the International Detention Coalition (IDC).
