Description of organisation

Outward Bound Slovakia is a non-profit educational organisation, serving in the sphere of personal development. We use experiential education methods to develop youth people's personality and social skills, such as perseverance, leadership, teamwork and communication. Our programs are
usually implemented in outdoor environment. Through our courses we help young people become more confident, more effective and more capable at school, college or at the workplace. We focus on developing not just the individual but also the team to which the individual belongs. The aim of the
courses, which Outward Bound Slovakia runs, is to support the young people in developing their skills in different areas and providing them with a platform for character development. We provide space to discover potential and inspiration for life. Our main tools are team activities, expedition, rope
elements, water activities and climbing.
Our target groups are:
1.Children, youth and young adults with disadvantaged background (marginalised youth, young people with disabilities, youth with behavioural problems)
2. Individuals and groups striving for personal development, change in their living style or social environment (school groups, university students..)
3. Teachers and professionals working with children and young people Our organisation has has a long- term partnership with organisations for children with behavioural problems (LVS, Krizove centrum v Bratislave), implements adaptation courses for school students and personal development courses for the public (Tvornádo, MišMaš, Civilizácia) and expedition courses in Slovakia and other countries in Europe. Our members and staff have different expertise and skills in the sphere of outdoor experiential organization, which they have acquired in Slovakia and abroad. Outward Bound Slovakia offers its members internal educational courses, first aid courses and organizes yearly meeting for all of its the members. Outward Bound Slovakia is a member of the biggest outdoor education organization - Outward Bound International and follows the safety and methodology standards, set by Outward Bound International.
