Budapest Metropolitan University (METU) is Hungary’s largest private university offering transformational education to a broad student base. The total student population has grown to nearly 7,500 students. Existing core program areas are Business, Communication, Tourism and Art. The university has been growing its international enrolment very rapidly and has around 900 international students from more than 90 countries in 2018. The strong focus on student outcomes manifests itself in employability rates of close to 90% supported by active cooperation with more than 1200 industry partners. In addition to the traditional Bachelor and Master programs, METU offer alumni and other learners life long learning through postgraduate programmes and adult education.
The aim of the University is to provide a high level of education by international as well as EU standards in the educational fields of social science, economics, art and art mediation, communication and tourism as part of BA, MA, specialist training, higher-level vocational training, higher educational vocational training, adult training.
Our university provides graduates with a wide-range of competitive knowledge, skills and competencies to make them fit for the Hungarian and international labour market.
Our education is based on innovative methods that are delivered by our academic staff with international experience in an inspiring / innovative educational and research environment.
Our goal is to enable everyone to unlock its professional and personal potential in METU’s inspiring and open-minded community.
We prepare our students for the ever-changing labor market needs by developing their creative thinking.
Now our university has 33 bachelor, 25 master, 20 postgraduate diploma and 7 vocational programs, in addition a top-up program with Coventry University.
METU has a University 4.0 program as our university’s aim is to become a financially growing, modern university which attracts increasing number of international students and creates direct value through innovation to the economy and society.
Last year we introduced a practice oriented, portfolio based and integrated education to provide outstanding educational experience and workforce-ready skills to graduate students called MyBrand. This is a personal brand building program, focusing on soft skill development. The program is first available in Hungary at METU. At the end of their studies, our students enter the labor market with a professional portfolio summing-up their competences acquired. We prepare our students through trainings and innovative education methods for conscious and continuous self-brand building, while our professors can participate at teaching methodology courses. Focusing on student experience, METU is a student-centric university.
Academic quality and education delivery as a guarantee for the high quality student experience within the operating principles and guidelines. Moreover, we build the nurturing character of METU providing student-centric services, communication and navigation. We have a pro-active approach, strengthening the community and METU identity. METU has a direct connection to professional communities to succeed on the labor market of its students. We also provide our students community experience & social life.
METU has 4 campuses in Budapest and another one in the south region of Hungary (Regional Knowledge Centre in Hódmezővásárhely).
METU has numerous intellectual workshops as METU LAB; METU College for International Relations; Research Center for Agile Methodologies; Management, Leadership and Business Counselling Knowledge-Centre; Talent Workshops, etc. Our university has an own startup programs as METU Startup Program and METU Garage acceleration program involving some SME-s. Our teachers and professionals take part in applied research and international research programs.
We also provide English language courses to improve professional language skills to meet the level required for our degree programs.
METU has a talent management program as a national academic competition for students. Within this we offer publishing opportunities, VALID Talent-pool (Marketing, Media, Tourism, E-business, Sports journalism Workshops), METU College for International Relations, presentation opportunities, conferences and exhibitions, study trips and visits, profession-related competitions, international trainings and workshops, international Week, etc.
For promoting social life we organise events as events organized by the Student Union, Freshmen’s camp, Freshmen’s ball, Professional Clubs (e.g. Debate, Calculus Group)
Film+discussion event series, Hobby & sport clubs, Freetime activities, etc.
This organisation is willing to involve volunteers who face situations which make their participation in activities more difficult, from the following categories for different types of project:
- Geographical obstacles
- Educational difficulties
- Cultural differences
