description of organisation

The KASA PT (Kapacity, Adaptability, Solidarity, Adventure) is a non-profit organization created in 2020 and operating in the fields of youth, education and training.
Our mission is: "To contribute to the improvement of the people we work with and to support the development of our partner institutions".
Our vision is: "To be the best association in welcoming and accompanying people (those we host in Portugal or those we send abroad), while gaining the recognition of our partner institutions".
Our values are: "Trust, Respect, Humility, Integrity; It is only good for us if it is good for stakeholders; Innovation practice".

Activities of an international nature, especially those developed in Portugal by national and international volunteers, are contributing to local development through:
a) Social support for young people and adults who are institutionalized (for instance seniors);
b) Better integration of immigrants, refugees and ethnic minorities;
c) Valuing cultural diversity;
d) Promotion and defence of gender equality and fight against domestic violence and human trafficking, developing intervention actions against all forms of gender-based violence;
e) Education for citizenship and human rights.

Our association also develops actions at the level of Education and Professional Training, with the aim to contribute to:
a) The promotion of volunteering and citizenship mainly through non-formal education;
b) Protection and enhancement of the environment;
c) Sustainable development;
d) The implementation of actions that allow personal and social training and that favour the transition to the labour market, civic and political participation, digital inclusion, entrepreneurship, etc.

Our target groups are:
-Young people between 18 and 30 years old:
KASA PT is an intermediary organisation finding internships for people coming from abroad. Those internships allow to acquire international adaptability and cross-cultural sensitivity as well as to develop the ability to maintain effective relations with people of different national backgrounds whilst maintaining impartiality and demonstrating culture awareness and great communications skills. We know how being a part of an international team will increase the self-confidence by effective learning how to share ideas, doubts or fears, which is seen by future employers as very attractive when they want to hire someone.
-Teachers, educators, youth leaders and other people involved in education and youth work.
KASA PT hosts groups of professionals coming to Portugal because Portugal is currently a hub for creativity and innovation. What we offer to the groups includes 3 components: theoretical (for instance about the educational system), practical (visits to some schools) and cultural (centuries of history and culture help KASA PT to offer different programs).
- KASA PT gives school support and organises leisure activities to 3 target groups of children (between 6 and 18 years old):
Basic school level 1 - (6-10 years old) - we work with 40 children in Bairro da Boavista/Benfica (Priority Intervention area)
Basic school level 2 - (11-13 years old) - we work with 15 children near Fonte Nova/Benfica
Basic school level 3 and Secondary school (13-18 years old) - we work with 30 children near Fonte Nova/Benfica
Our team in charge of international work has a lot of experience due to the fact that some of our members occupied relevant positions in international youth work after starting as participants, then youth leaders, then coordinators, etc.
We work on topics like:
- Associative democracy: Given growing concern about the state of democracy and governance more broadly in the developed as well as developing worlds, revisiting different schools of thought on democratic models is of critical contemporary importance. Associative democracy – referring to a model of democracy where power is highly decentralized and responsibility for civic well-being resides with like-minded civic associations
- KASA PT follows CEMEA (Training Centers for Active Education Methods) concept of activity – to us it is not a hazy concept but fundamentally an attitude that projects an individual or a group. Activity implies a deliberate choice. Serious invitation to activity leads to dialogue, exchange, questioning and renders the authoritative argument ineffective; conversely, the activity assumes effective participation, research, experimentation. We try to follow this concept in all our work.
-What is the Third Sector? KASA PT is a non for profit company that develops economic activity around projects and is, like many other associations, cooperatives and mutual societies, interested in ensuring that its members are formed and that their partners understand the strength and potential of our sector, often mistakenly seen as totally dependent on public subsidies, when the reality is quite different. We organise debates with other institutions of our sector
