Description of organisation

Das Center for Independent Social Research (CISR) e.V. ist ein gemeinnütziger Verein, der im November 2015 in Berlin von Sozialwissenschaftler*innen, Expert*innen und zivilgesellschaftlichen Akteur*innen gegründet wurde. Hauptziele dieser gesellschaftlichen und wissenschaftlichen Vereinigung sind die Unterstützung und Durchführung von sozialwissenschaftlichen Forschungsprojekten sowie die Förderung der Zivilgesellschaft in postsozialistischen Ländern.

Die langjährige Forschungserfahrung der CISR Mitglieder ist maßgebend für eine professionelle Umsetzung von zivilgesellschaftlichen Projekten, denn sie ermöglicht es, Herausforderungen zu bestimmen, mit denen postsozialistische Gesellschaften konfrontiert sind. Erst durch die wissenschaftliche Analyse der tiefergehenden Ursachen und Folgen dieser zivilgesellschaftlichen Herausforderungen können effiziente Lösungen in Projektkonzepten umgesetzt werden.

Zentrale Tätigkeitsbereiche und -Formate des CISR sind:

1. Konzeption und Durchführung von Forschungsprojekten in folgenden Bereichen: Migrations- und Urbanitätsforschung, soziale Bewegungen, Konflikte und Erinnerungspolitik.
2. Erstellung von Analysen sozialer, kultureller und politischer Prozesse in Osteuropa und postsowjetischen Staaten durch Expert*innen.
3. Angewandte Bildungsarbeit und Entwicklung von transnationalen zivilgesellschaftlichen Netzwerken, Vereinigungen und Organisationen.
4. Tätigkeiten im Bereich friedlicher Konflikttransformationen und Schaffung von Dialogplattformen.
5. Erstellung von gemeinwohlorientierten Bildungsprogrammen, Weiterqualifizierungsmaßnahmen für Jugendliche und junge Expert*innen im Bereich der Sozialwissenschaften, Geschichtswissenschaft und Massenmedien.
6. Erstellung und Publikation von analytischen Studien, Forschungsberichten und Lehrmaterialien.

Projekte von CISR e.V. richten sich an:

- Fachkräfte/Expert_innen aus diversen Bereichen: Wissenschaft, Bildung, Zivilgesellschaft, Vertreter_innen von regionalen Regierungen und Administrationen, verschiedener zivilgesellschaftlicher Projekte etc.

- junge Erwachsene, u.a. mit geringeren Chancen, Young leader sowie junge Expert_innen aus den Bereichen: Medien, Sozialwissenschaften, Geschichtswissenschaft etc.

The Center for Independent Social Research (CISR) e.V. is a non-profit association founded in November 2015 in Berlin by social scientists, experts and civil society actors. The main objectives of this social and scientific association are the support and implementation of social science research projects and the promotion of civil society in post-socialist countries.

The many years of research experience of the CISR members are crucial for the professional implementation of civil society projects, as they enable the identification of challenges faced by post-socialist societies. Only through the scientific analysis of the deeper causes and consequences of these civil society challenges can efficient solutions be implemented in project concepts.

Central fields and formats of activity of CISR are:

1. conception and implementation of research projects in the following areas: Migration and urbanity research, social movements, conflicts and politics of memory.

2. drafting of analyses of social, cultural and political processes in Eastern Europe and post-Soviet states by experts.

3. applied educational work and development of transnational civil society networks, associations and organisations.

4. activities in the field of peaceful conflict transformation and creation of dialogue platforms.

5. development of educational programmes oriented towards the common good, further qualification measures for young people and young experts in the field of social sciences, history and mass media.

6. drafting and publishing of analytical studies, research reports and teaching materials.

Projects of CISR e.V. are aimed at:

- Specialists from various fields: Science, education, civil society, representatives of regional governments and administrations, of various civil society projects, etc.

- young adults, including those with fewer opportunities, young leaders and young experts in the fields: media, social sciences, history etc.
