Description of organisation

NGO “International Daphne Youth Education Association” is a youth non-governmental organization,non profit organization, which established in 2015 from idea and desire of "mutual help" to other people, by the group of initiative young people from Hatay Province, Turkey. Daphne Youth is an educational association. It has many different experiences with Erasmus + and other programs. Our members are educationists, social workers, health workers, doctors, teachers and from different professions. Due to being nearby Syria, Hatay city hosting more 600.000 Syrian, Iraqı, Afghan refugees. Because of this reason, our basic topics that we are dealing are education, human rights, supporting gender equality among the society, empowering minorities, sports, art and working with disadvantaged groups in order to create better world and increase the tolerance and peace for better conditions.
We took part in many international projects (youth exchanges, training courses, international conferences, seminars and study visits) and Daphne Youth Team has organized many projects under different programs. (Youth exchanges, youth initiatives, training courses, study visits, etc.). The details about the project that Daphne Youth organized and took part of are below.
The mission of our organization - support youth activities and initiatives aimed at creating conditions for the development of civil society, youth involvement in issues affecting its interests, active citizenship among young people, the development of leadership qualities and promotion of a healthy lifestyle.
Activities of our organization based on voluntary work and the strengths of our volunteerism, thus we have several spheres of work, among them, are:
Active citizenship, Sport, Healthy Lifestyle, Environment protection, Social integration, Human rights, Gender equality, Tolerance, Cultural diversity, Anti-discrimination, Working with young people with fewer opportunities, Employment, Social Entrepreneurship, Mobility projects, Cooperation between different institutions, etc.
Our target groups are:
Young people aged 16 – 35 without any professional skills; young people with fewer opportunities; organizations working with children and young people with special needs (orphanages, special schools, etc.); internally displaced people (vulnerable refugees living in Hatay district and inside the country, who moved from Syria and Iraq where conflict and war arise); school children and students; youth workers and alumni of international programs.
From 2015, we started to be actively involved in Erasmus+ programme. Our members and organization have been actively involved of more than 38 projects, in which more than 390 young people/youth workers from all over Turkey took part.
Daphne Youth has 4 department (Communication, Volunteer Management, Project Coordination and Finance and Logistic) related to project implementation, in these departments we have 4 professional staff and 10 volunteers supporting the coordination.
Daphne Youth closely cooperate with local different NGO’s, Universities, Schools, and media organization in order to share best practices and disseminate the result of the project within the scope of youth activities.
