description of organisation

Saint Jean de la Ruelle is a town in Centre-Val de Loire region, on the north bank of the river, and it is the fifth largest city in the Loiret department. It is located in the heart of the Orléans Metropolis. It has more than 16,000 inhabitants. Its territory, of 606 hectares, borders the towns of Saran, Ingré, La Chapelle Saint Mesmin and Orléans. The Loire forms the southern border with Saint Pryvé Saint Mesmin. The town provides various services to its population: administrative, social, educational, catering, cultural and sports. Other support services are an integral part of the community oriented towards international relations (twinning steering committee), information technology, maintenance, transport, finance. Consequently, a multitude of professionals with different profiles constitutes a real added value on our territory. The town of Saint Jean la Ruelle places particular emphasis on the promotion of youth and international relations. Moreover, the following services are and will be strongly involved and solicited, especially in the reception of volunteers of European Solidarity Corps, these are in particular:

- The Urban Animation and Neighbourhood Social Linkage Unit, which manages the city's two Maisons pour Tous (social centres approved by the Caisse d'Allocation Familiale (CAF) (governement institution) of Loiret (the department). The Maisons Pour Tous (MPT) are located respectively in the two priority districts of the City's policy and cover the entire town of Saint Jean de la Ruelle. The MPT are places of proximity with a global, family and intergenerational vocation, which welcome the entire population while ensuring social mix; they are open to the entire population to whom they offer a warm welcome, activities and services; taking into account the needs and expectations expressed by the inhabitants. The MPT are places for meetings and exchanges between generations; they promote the development of family and social ties. The MPT are also places where social life is animated, allowing inhabitants to express, design and carry out their projects: they take into account the expressed requests and initiatives from users and inhabitants, and promote social and community life. They propose activities or services with a social, educational, cultural or leisure purpose, as well as specific actions to respond to the social problems of the territory.

- The Communal Centre for Social Action, which has an Employment-Training Area. It is a local service whose objective is to promote access to employment for the inhabitants of Saint Jean la Ruelle. It's alos a youth information center (PIJ) . Reinforced support can be offered to young people in need. Designed to act on a community-wide scale alongside job seekers and young inhabitants in training, this sector welcomes around 150 inhabitants per month (excluding external events) and offers 3 types of services: the employment and training relay (under agreement with Pôle Emploi and the Mission Local (both are government institution), the Employment and Training Space is a real relay for job and training offers), a youth information point (under agreement with the CRIJ (Regional Youth Information Centre) and the State, the Employment-Training Area provides access to rights and information on studies, training, jobs, leisure and holidays, culture, Europe, sport, health, housing, mobility) and to award grants to young people, in particular to facilitate and promote European mobility missions (for example: departure grant).

Finally, one of the city's priorities is international relations, in favour of neighbouring European countries. Moreover, the town has a twinning committee constituted as an association. The latter aims to maintain the bonds of friendship between Saint-Jean-de-la-Ruelle and other European and/or international cities and has set itself the main objective of promoting social exchanges between the twin cities: Amposta (Spain), Gommern (Germany); Niepolomice (Poland) and Niantjila cooperation (Mali). The twinning committee, in conjunction with the municipality, is willing to work for construction, European citizenship and North-South cooperation with concern for peace and democracy. Its action is in line with the European motto "United in diversity". With the active support of the municipality, the European Commission, the Centre Val de Loire Region and the Departmental Council, the committee organises the arrival of young trainees with the link between exchange and reciprocal stay in families.
