description of organisation

The Association Compagnons Bâtisseurs Auvergne (CBAU) implements, on the scale of the Auvergne Region, and in support of public policies, actions in the field of the improvement of housing intended for the most fragile populations. These person-centered actions are aimed at developing the capacity to act. They are implemented within the framework of the political project of the association.

In the statutes, the wording of the object is written as follows:
-the promotion of the right to "live", which goes beyond the right to a physical home and includes the right to appropriate decent and suitable housing taking into account culture and lifestyles, allowing the development and a harmonious relationship with the environment,
-the promotion of the right for each person to be an actor in their project and their development, to be an actor in social life in order to develop a concrete citizenship,
-the desire to offer fields of experience, empowerment, concrete solidarity and popular education.

The Compagnons Bâtisseurs works in Auvergne to improve the housing of disadvantaged people. They base their actions on the idea that housing is the first place of a person, of his identity and that transforming it, renovating it, is participating in the social (re) construction of individuals. Their social purpose activities are linked to the site, whatever its form. They allow people to make themselves useful in society and to (re) find a place in it. The association implements different types of project:
- supported self-rehabilitation sites,
- collective activities,

In this context, it welcomes and supports volunteers in Civic Service and hopefully in ESC soon. It benefits from the national support system since the Compagnons Bâtisseurs network is committed to welcoming this audience and has set up training and exchanges of practices in order to develop reinforced tutoring. The association is made up of a team of 8 permanent employees and operates mainly in peri-urban areas and in rural areas.
