Description of organisation

The Don Bosco Foundation is a philanthropic organisation whose main work focuses on the needs of children and young people especially those who are poor, in difficulty and abandoned. The Don Bosco Foundation belongs to the Salesian Of Don Bosco Province in Malta and Gozo and it has been registered as Foundation in accordance to the Civil Code and as a Voluntary Organisation with the Office of the Commissioner of Voluntary Organisations.

The purpose of the Don Bosco Foundation is to support social projects aimed at promoting the welfare of youth that are run by the Salesians of Don Bosco who have been present in Malta since 1903 and manage various institutions which work to help children and young people in need. We are responsible for residential homes for children and young people, schools, youth centres, oratories, chaplaincies, youth groups and other educational centres. Our aim is to accompany children and young people in their needs, their education and their formation. To be able to achieve our mission we depend on the good will of kind people and benefactors. If it was not for kindness of these benevolent people, we will not be in a position to offer the care and education to the children and young people entrusted to us by the State.

The following are purposes which the Don Bosco Foundation aims to achieve:

- To sustain the work and mission of Don Bosco in Salesian Presences who are working with young people especially those who are poor, at risk and vulnerable;
- To support the Salesians of Don Bosco in their efforts for renewal and the recruitment of new personnel;
- To fund the education and training of those who are inclined to work with young people within the Salesians of Don Bosco;
- To help the work of missionaries who are abroad especially those working in the field of the young;
- To support the Salesians of Don Bosco who dedicate their lives to the benefit of children and young people.
- To utilise social communication as a means to proclaim the gospel message and promote the education and evangelisation of the young.
- to carry out such activities as may be ancillary to the above or as may be necessary or desirable to achieve the above purposes and objects.
