Description of organisation

Nizhny Novgorod Voluntary Service (NNVS) – as an independent organization officially registered in 1999, but functioned since 1997. Nowadays we have the official status of a regional volunteering development resource center.
The mission of the organization is to create opportunities for self-realization of people and for providing the social needs of the inhabitants through volunteering and philanthropy. Implementing the mission organization fulfills the following goals: to create the conditions to engage wide sections of the population in volunteering to solve local social problems; to unite socially active people and to establish local volunteer centers; to support, coordinate and stimulate charity and voluntary initiatives.

Activities of the organization include organizing charity events and long-term projects aimed to help disadvantaged people, social program TimeBank, voluntary agency, seminars for NGOs and volunteers, international work camps, common projects with local business, and corporate volunteering. NNVS has different partners from all over the world, they are mostly social organizations actively involved in forming civil society.

Every year NNVS involves more than 2 000 volunteers, about 100 NGOs, and more than 100 charitable organizations. NNVS is regularly supported by different charitable foundations: international – Mott Foundation, Eurasia Foundation, CAF; governmental - President’s of RF grant system, N. Novgorod region Governor grant program, N. Novgorod mayor program, the governmental program with the ministry of education; local business foundations - Nachalo Charitable Foundation, Victoria children foundation. Besides NNVS has a lot of experience in accumulating local business resources for voluntary events.
