Description of organisation
JESC provides “Vision and Values for Europe” by promoting faith and justice by Rediscovering the European Common Good.
Our core mission at JESC is to reflect on the life, policies and practice of the European Union. We seek engagement which authentically expresses Christian faith, remains close to the poor and marginalised, analyses the social reality with competence, and advocates for justice in European political structures. In a context in which the EU is undergoing the most acute political and economic crisis of its existence, JESC seeks a critical but constructive engagement with the EU.
As a work of the Jesuit Conference of European Provincials, JESC expresses the commitment of the Society of Jesus to a Europe where human rights, freedom and solidarity are the foundation of integration.
Our organizational internal values are: Depth; The Team; Good Will; Rituals; Openness; Clarity; Impact; Focus; Accountability; Commitment.
Our vision is to implement the Universal Apostolic Preferences by 2029. Based on this vision, we established four strategic goals:
-Give a voice to the excluded in the European political process and accompany groups committed to rethink Europe.
-Bring closer through “deeper renewal” the Jesuit social apostolates in Europe through service, advocacy, formation and research.
-Accompany the European ecological apostolates of Jesuits & partners.
-Reinforce Jesuit and Christian networks through Leadership formation.
JESC target groups are EU leaders and institutions, administrators, EU-focus media, JCEP Justice networks (Delegates, Social Centres, JRS, Xavier Network) and Faith & Politics, GIAN, Think Big Europe, Common Home Dialogue, 25-30-year-old youth leadership.
