Description of organisation

Anffas Sibillini was born from the will of some families in the hinterland of Macerata to create an association able to put in place initiatives for the protection of the rights of people with intellectual and/or relational disabilities and to support their families. The primary objective is to guarantee social inclusion of people with disabilities through the autonomy and the employment. There are about 80 registered family members and an increasing number of young people with disabilities participate in our activities.

We are an association of families committed to accompanying people with intellectual disabilities in the development of skills and areas of autonomy, to offer support to family members and to raise awareness of the community and public opinion on the issue of disability, so that we can contribute to build a more inclusive society.

Since 2013, we work every day in our headquarters in Pian di Pieca, in San Ginesio, involving not only families, but also volunteers and local professionals, local authorities and institutions, so that people with disabilities can be and feel an integral part of a community that respects them and knows their needs.

We organize socio-occupational, educational and recreational activities for people with intellectual disabilities in order to accompany them in a path that allows them to acquire skills and develop areas of autonomy.

• We carry out activities of social aid and information to the families of people with disabilities, such as the Auto Mutuo Aiuto Group, so that no one feels abandoned and disoriented, but can find in the association a point of reference and practical and emotional support.

• Through the SAI desk - Reception Information Service we provide families with all useful information of a normative, health, social and operational nature.

• We organize initiatives to raise awareness in our community, such as the Festival Proximus, involving high school children, because to achieve full social inclusion we need awareness, the sharing and the largest participation.

• We promote and support the research, prevention, care, empowerment and rehabilitation of disabled people.

• We promote training courses for all those who work with disabled people, in order to improve the quality of the services offered.

• We cultivate relations with local and regional political and administrative bodies, public and private centres active in the field. We also promote legislative, administrative and judicial initiatives to protect persons with disabilities and their families, to ensure that their needs are treated in the same way as all the others and that their rights are fully respected.
