Description of organisation

“Spravedliviy mir” (Fair World in English) is a public non-profit Non Governmental Organization established in 2012 in the Republic of Buryatia (Russian Federation) between lake Baikal and Mongolian's border, that provides assistance to 5000 heavy disable orphans and children left without parental care. “Spravedliviy mir” has been created to provide concrete assistance to abandoned children directly in orphanages or institutions that don’t have enough funding to take care of them, especially when they are heavily disabled. Fair world provides material and support directly in those places where no public, private, national or international charity organizations arrive.
Buryatia is a remote and distant region from the capital of the Russian Federation and therefore the needs of this border land are underrepresented. In some cases even representatives of the government of the Republic of Buryatia are not aware of the conditions and needs of the most distant orphanages. Spravedliviy Mir is present in the most isolated areas in this remote region, areas that are difficult to reach (due to disrupted road links) and climatically hostile (due to the extreme conditions that are reached in the country). The wide temperature range makes it necessary to carry out a series of interventions, for example on building materials and clothing, which are often too expensive for the local economy based mainly on survival agriculture.

The NGO, thanks to the solidarity of its volunteers, can support hundreds of orphans with severe disabilities or from a heavily disadvantaged background, in rural and the foremost isolated places of the Buryatian Republic. The extreme conditions in which these children are living (with +40° degree in summertime and - 50° in winter time) has moved kindhearted people to do something in concrete, as practical support to make their lives better and to help them grow healthier from the physical and social point of view.
“Spravedliviy mir” answers to the practical needs of the orphanages and children’s aid centres when there is a shortage of institutional funding or exceptional needs. It is a cross-link and facilitator between the foremost distant orphanages and the government representatives, implementing projects in multiple contexts for the orphans inside and outside the orphanages. The NGO helps and assists boys and girls who leave the orphanages once they are 18 to integrate into society, find a job and have an independent life. It also supports the foster parents to prevent burnout especially with children with disabilities, organizing socialization events and mutual help groups, moreover it provides practical help to foster parents from other countries during their stay in Buryatia. “Spravedliviy mir” helps children care institutions to organize or to participate in fundraising events.

The main institutions that “Spravedliviy mir” helps are:
• Aistionok children's home (with more than 100 orphans from 0 to 3 years old)
• Zhuravushka children's nursing house for children with severe disabilities (with children from 3 to 18 years old),
• Malyshok children's aid Center (with more than 70 orphans from 3 to 6 years old),
• the Republican social rehabilitation center for children left without parental care (with about 60 children),
• Iroyskaya boarding school for children with visual, hearing, speech, musculoskeletal or mental disabilities (with children from 6 to 18 years old),
• Bayangol hospice for people with severe intellectual disabilities and other disabilities (more than 100 hosts)
• Raduga children's aid center in the village of Oior, Dzhidinsky district of the Republic of Buryatia (with about 30 children)

Since 2016, “Spravedliviy mir” and East Siberian Academy of Culture and Art have signed an agreement on joint activities aimed at protecting the rights of children left without parental care with charity, volunteer, and educational work . At international level “Spravedliviy mir” collaborates with 3 NGOs: the Italian “Piccoli Mondi ONLUS” (Verona) and “PiùPer” (in the province of Pesaro) and the Spanish Filomundo (Valladolid).
With these NGOs “Spravedliviy mir” organizes fundraising and solidarity trips in Buryatia. Both the Italian NGOs have the ESC Quality Label and “Spravedliviy mir” is planning to actively collaborate with them in the framework of this funding programme as a way to improve the impact and the positive results on the lives of the orphans.
