description of organisation

The Plaine d'Ozon socio-cultural centre is an association which has existed since 1965. It is a neighbourhood facility with a focus on children, youth, parenthood, neighbourhood life and culture. It is a non-formal education organisation which is a member of the national federation of social centres. The youth work is based on projects such as the national and departmental youth network, the discovery of voluntary work and on the youth commissions of our federation. By enrolling young people in these different projects, we support them in a civic and committed approach by offering them spaces for debate. In this proposed itinerary, the young people free their words, work on their self-confidence and develop their interpersonal skills.
The kids centre is open on Wednesday afternoons and during school holidays.
It is a means of childcare for the parents but the team in place directs its pedagogy towards the emancipation and the power to act of the children. At the same time, the family sector works on parenting with families and local schools to provide the best possible support for parents.
The teenagers sector welcomes young people from 12 to 17 years old during their leisure time (Wednesday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday evenings, school holidays).
Sporting and cultural activities are organised and citizenship projects are carried out. The young people participate in initiatives to develop the social project of Ozon social center, meetings with the municipality to find ways of improvement to restore the attractiveness of the city and all the youth network projects of our federation of social centres.
Courses are also offered to the public with activities such as drawing, dance, Yoga, Italian and English classes, zumba, painting, sewing.
