description of organisation

The De La Salle Solidarietà Internazionale is a non-profit organization founded in 2010 by the Institute of the Brothers of the De La Salle Christian Schools, for financial support activities, technical assistance, and staff training, in favour of educational initiatives that operate in fragile contexts of the world and with groups in vulnerability.
The Foundation's goal is to allow each boy and girl to go to school, and all young men and young women to be prepared for their future. For this reason, its mission is to remove the obstacles that prevent full access to the right to education through schools, non-formal training centres, family homes, social and health services, and other programs that respond to the local needs of communities in which it operates.
In carrying out each project, the Foundation is committed to defending the rights of minors, promoting inclusive practices towards the most marginalized groups, and merging educational communities that are ecologically, socially, and economically sustainable.
De La Salle strongly believes in the importance of working in a network with other entities, in order to continuously improve the quality of the actions carried out and recognising the importance of sharing best practices. In this sense, it is particularly relevant to mention that De La Salle works in-network with many different entities (NGO's, no-profits, volunteer associations, universities, entities of the profit sector) from around 80 countries in the world from all 5 the continents, both belonging to the network of the Institute of the Brothers of the De La Salle Christian Schools and, other congregations and non-religious organizations. A particularly important collaboration for the achievement of De La Salle's actions is the one with BICE - Bureau International Catholique de l'Enfance, which sees the participation of the Foundation as a full member. This partnership is particularly relevant to being able to continue guaranteeing child protection and the promotion of the rights of children and young people in every project we realize.
One of the core values for De La Salle is to be at the service of the most in needs and as part of the Global Lasallian network, we recognise the impact that volunteer actions can have on the life of the local communities. For this reason, we consider volunteer projects realized on both the national and international level as one of the key elements for the success of our projects. As Lasallians, volunteerism is a critical ingredient in what we do around the world and a core value we want to transmit in our educational mission.

In 2015, the United Nations formally presented the new agenda for the Sustainable Development Goals This agenda is formed by the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which must be implemented by all countries in the world by 2030. De La Salle believes that Objective Number 4, Quality Education, really represents the key objective to ensure an effecting global change and the achievement of all the SDGs, because it is providing access to quality education for every child, young person or adult that it is possible to empower people in being active agents of change in their local reality. For this reason, our mission is "Ensuring the right to quality education of children and youth at risk all over the world".
Through the actions promoted since 2010, De La Salle, starting from schools and educational centres, has been able to contribute to achieving the following objectives:
1. No Poverty: End poverty in all its forms everywhere
2. Zero Hunger: End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition, and promote sustainable agriculture
3. Good Health and Well-Being: Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all of all ages
4. Quality Education: Ensure inclusive and quality education for all and promote lifelong learning
5. Gender Equality: Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls
6. Clear Water and Sanitation: Ensure access to water and sanitation for all

11. Sustainable Cities and Communities: Make cities inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable
12. Responsible Consumption and Production: Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns
