Description of organisation

The Public Foundation for the Culture of the Veszprém-Balaton Region supports the cultural life of the city of Veszprém and the Lake Balaton region. Its predecessor (the Public Foundation for Culture in Veszprém) has played an active role in shaping the cultural offer of the city since 1991. After Veszprém was awarded the title of European Capital of Culture together with the Lake Balaton Region, the role and function of the Public Foundation was expanded to take on increased cultural tasks. It now works in close cooperation with Veszprém-Balaton 2023 Zrt.
The tasks of the public foundation:
- The primary tasks of the Public Foundation are to contribute fully to the implementation of the cultural and community programme of the European Capital of Culture Veszprém-Balaton 2023, in the maximum possible connection with the objectives of the Public Foundation.
- To achieve the objectives of the public foundation, the organisation of educational and cultural events, exhibitions, meetings, study tours, festivals, courses, non-formal training.
- Cultural activities and public education, in particular the transmission of traditional community cultural values, lifelong learning, amateur creative and performing arts, culture-based economic development and cultural tourism.
- Activities related to national and ethnic minorities in Hungary and Hungarians living beyond the borders.
- Development activities for disadvantaged target groups.
- Editing and publishing publications and databases related to the objectives of the public foundation.
- Establishment of an information point, an educational, training and research platform, a specialised library and a repository of documentation.
- To welcome national and international volunteers and coordinate their activities.
- Participation in the school community service as a host organisation.
- To promote amateur and professional research on subjects related to the objectives of the public foundation.
- Cooperation with NGOs, local authorities, churches, cross-border and international organisations with similar aims.

  • This organisation holds a European Solidarity Corps Quality Label. The Quality Label certifies that the organisation is able to run projects in compliance with the principles and objectives of the European Solidarity Corps.
