Description of organisation

The responsible non-profit organisation is the Nachschaftsheim Schöneberg e.V. It was founded in 1948 as an urban district-orientated sociocultural organisation in Berlin-Friedenau.
The Nachbarschaftsheim Schöneberg e.V. has a long tradition of honorary work and being active in the neighborhood, which is very important and permanently refined. As an
organisation we run kindergardens, day-care centres, youth clubs and organise other social community work. Since the 2005/2006 schoolyear, the Nachbarschaftsheim has been organizing all-day care centres at ten primary schools in Berlin's southwest whereof five all-day care centres of different schools participate in the ESC program. The ESC-volunteers will mainly support the open and non-formal education activities in school as well as the all-day care activities in the afternoon. Together with the social workers and the children, cultural education, leisure and sports activities are developed for the young people. The primary schools all have a different focus in their daily work.

Das Nachbarschaftsheim Schöneberg e.V. hat eine lange Tradition der ehrenamtlichen Arbeit und des Engagements in der Nachbarschaft, die sehr wichtig für den Kiez ist und ständig weiterentwickelt wird. Als Verein betreiben wir Kindergärten, Kindertagesstätten, Jugendclubs und organisieren weitere Tätigkeiten der sozialen Gemeinschaftsarbeit. Seit dem Schuljahr 2005/2006 organisiert das Nachbarschaftsheim Schönberg e.V. Ganztagsbetreuungen an zehn Grundschulen im Südwesten Berlins, wovon fünf Ganztagsbetreuungen verschiedener Schulen am ESC-Programm teilnehmen. Die ESK-Freiwilligen werden vor allem die offenen und non-formalen Bildungsangebote in der Schule sowie die Ganztagsbetreuung am Nachmittag unterstützen. Gemeinsam mit dem Sozialarbeiter*innen und dem pädagogischen Personal sowie den Kindern werden kulturelle Bildungs-, Freizeit- und Sportaktivitäten für die jungen Menschen entwickelt. Die Grundschulen haben alle einen anderen Schwerpunkt in der alltäglichen Arbeit.
