Description of organisation

Onlus Gulliver was founded in 2012 in Pesaro, with the objective of being of service to the city, especially for schools and for people in need. Gulliver employs 50 people and it is supported by 200 volunteers. A big part of the employees is composed of people with special needs (internships for social inclusion) and we also employ youngsters of the national civil service.
In the past 10 years, we have worked to create a network in our territory so that the impact of our activities could be always bigger: we cooperate with other associations that work in the field of solidarity and inclusion, with local institutions, with schools, with cooperatives and also with the prison.
Thanks to our network, we have managed to organise different kinds of activities but, at some point, we have realised that we needed more fundings if we wanted to help more people and if we wanted to offer more services for the community for free. We decided to create the “Botteghe del Riuso” with the double objective of reusing and upcycling things and to get fundings for our projects of solidarity and inclusion. Connected to the “Botteghe del Riuso”, we have also created a service of distribution of food. We try, in fact, to give a 360 degree support to people in need of any kind: food, clothes, items for children, furniture and also a service of transportation if they do not have cars.
In addition to solidarity, Gulliver has other 2 fundamental principles that are the fighting against bullying and violence against women. We organise courses and activities about these topics inside schools and in the local community.
We have created “Little free libraries” around the city of Pesaro and in the neighbouring towns. We have 12 little free libraries where people can leave and take books freely in order to share and to give access to culture. The books are placed inside boxes (in order to protect them from the weather) and they are located inside public parks.
