description of organisation

Vila Real is a Portuguese city and capital of the district of Vila Real, located in the North Region, sub-region of Douro and in the former province of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro. It is the capital of the traditional province of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro and is the seat of the municipality of Vila Real with an area of 378.80 km² and around 45000 inhabitants. Located on a plateau at about 450 meters of altitude, on the promontory formed by the confluence of the rivers Corgo and Cabril, where the oldest part is located, the city is framed in a beautiful natural landscape (Escarpas do Corgo), with a backdrop of deep the Alvão mountain range and, further away, the Marão.
Vila Real Municipality, being a Multiplier of Eurodesk Portugal since 2019 Youth in Action, is part of a network of national and international partners and the partners for these initiatives will be reinforced through the Network.
Since 2019, we have fulfilled all our goals, affirming the continuity of this noble work in favor of young people. By promoting the dissemination and dissemination of information about European projects and mobility for young people, we realize
that there is this need to further promote European opportunities. We also carry out interesting partnerships in some local entities, including groups of schools, professional schools, universities, entities with young people with special educational needs, as well as other international entities. In Vila Real there are no accredited organizations for the European Solidarity Corps and the Municipality intends to encourage organizations to participate and make European opportunities known to young people and communities in Vila Real.
As we know, the year 2022 has been defined by the European Commission as the “European Year of Youth” and, as such, young people who participate in the European Solidarity Corps bring with them ideas, convictions and expectations. In this way, the Municipality of Vila Real intends to initiate a set of opportunities for local young people, in order to encourage all young people, in particular those who have fewer opportunities and those from rural areas, the most disadvantaged, to become more and more citizens. active and positive change agents. The European Solidarity Corps is the main gateway to community support for voluntary and solidarity initiatives, as a way of strengthening and energizing the common project in the European Community. The pandemic robbed young people of many opportunities to learn, live and experience other cultures. In this way, the young towns of the real people come to understand that they are also part of Europe. The Municipality of Vilas Real is committed to reinforcing the objectives of the initiatives already carried out in favor of young people with fewer needs, who live in rural areas, continuing its educational and community work in the youth, voluntary and social area. The youth department does not neglect social activities and healthy lifestyles. Examples of this are the annual activities planned and carried out in recent years: Youth Month, Youth Exhibition, Participatory Youth Budget, Youth Entrepreneurship Awards and promotion of leisure activities. However, during the COVID 1 pandemic, and to combat the isolation of disadvantaged young people by involving them in initiatives in Europe, we had the need to put other initiatives into practice (online), improving and providing young people with activities to continue to validate their Skills:
1-Thematic workshops in mental health;
2-European policies and youth;
3-Promotion of Self-esteem and emotions of the Body and Mind;
5- European Youth Week
6-Youth Month - with numerous aspects, Young People and Writing, Young People and Sport and Young People and Art, activities to which talented young people from Vila Real are invited to make their journey known, as well as share experiences of life, are also worthy of prominence and deserving of the attention of younger people.
7- Europe Day Promotion
8- Time to move - Eurodesk Portugal campaign
9- "Youth Tree Challenge"
10-Bila Jovem Solidarity
Recently, the Youth Department decided to invest in valuing young people, putting into practice a process of action plan for Youth, listening to young people, in order to listen to them, understand their needs, promoting a more active citizenship, thus giving opportunity for young people to express their voice. Thus, the strategy of the Municipality of Vila Real, intends to involve and respond to target audiences, always framing the priorities of young people.
