L'association Epi de Mains est installée dans le hameau de l'Espinas sur la commune de Ventalon en Cévennes dans le sud de la Lozère. Elle travaille en coopération avec le café-restaurant de l'Espinas, l'école professionnelle de la Pierre Sèche et l'association pour le renouveau de la Pomme en Cévennes qui sont aussi domiciliés sur la propriété communale de 17 hectares.
L'association mène depuis 2008, ses activités principalement dans 3 domaines :
- Éducation populaire : Tiers Lieu, médiation numérique, rencontres citoyennes, RV mensuels, actions citoyennes bénévoles (rénovation four à pain…).
Des actions de solidarité sont organisées tout au long de l'année avec l'association Cévennes Terre d'Accueil qui accompagnent des migrant-e-s (collectes, soirées de soutien, repas de solidarité...)
- Jeunesse : chantier international depuis 2013, accueil de volontaires en service civique : 4 accueilli-e-s en 2019/2020, 2 accueils prévus en 2021 ; mobilité européenne : 1 accueil en 2019/2020, 1 en projet pour 2021, accueil de jeunes rencontres autogérées toute l'année. L'ouverture culturelle apportée par les échanges européens et internationaux, augmente l'interconnaissance et favorise une meilleur compréhension du monde et des enjeux actuels.
- Environnement : création et gestion d'un lieu ressource autour de la châtaigneraie dans une démarche de transition durable et la gestion d'un point de vente pour les exploitant-e-s du territoire. Le centre de ressource permet accompagner la rénovation de châtaigneraie, lutte contre la fermeture du milieu et favorise l'emploi local.
Les actions de l'association notamment dans le cadre de l'éducation à la citoyenneté et à la solidarité internationale, permettent un brassage des générations et des origines. Les publics touchés sont de tout âge et de toutes catégories sociales.
En 2019, 3260 personnes ont participé aux activités de l'association qui a organisé 88 manifestations dont 9 hors site.

S'ouvrir aux autres, construire une citoyenneté active, faciliter la transmission de connaissance, aller à la rencontres d'initiatives sont les motivations des actions de l'association.

Epi de Mains -which means “group of hands”- is a little association in the south of France in a village called Ventalon en Cévennes with 250 inhabitants..
The association works since 2008 and proposes activities and animations all the year in the “Relais de l’Espinas” in a hamlet where is also located a restaurant and the professional school of Dry-Stone Walling. The purpose is to help people to stay or to come around.

In a convivial space open all the week, the association offers computers and help to use it, a free library, a free shop and lots of information especially about the chestnuts’ culture which is one of the main economic activity in the area. The association makes also training about chestnuts' culture. The exchanges and meetings with young Europeans are part of the actions of the association to build European citizenship and to find new ideas among us.

The members of the association "Epi de Mains" are parts of the community, they are from all ages, most of them live in the area.
The team is composed by 30 activ unpaid members, two employees, Kelian in charge of the environmental actions and Véronique in charge of the animations, the communication and the administration, and two French volunteers (18-25 years old).
The association appreciates to welcome young from others countries to permit exhanges with the inhabitants.Since 2013, every summer a International workcamp of tennagers volounteers is organized.

This is a wild beautiful country side in the middle of a National Park (Le Parc National des Cevennes), the only French National Park with inhabitants. If you like nature, tranquillity, sport, trekking, it is the good place to be. If not, don’t come.
The place is between Florac and Alès en Cévennes. It is 1:30 away from Nîmes and 2:15 from Montpellier.
You can come by train to the nearest train station "Sainte Cécile d'Andorge" or "Genolhac", at 20 minutes of the place. Someone from the association will come to pick you up.
The association will find you a place to live not too far away from where the activities run. You will have the possibility to move by yourself if you have a driving license, because the association will lend you a car. Otherwise, you will need to cycle, to walk or to carshare.
You will discover a place far away from the cities’ life, close to nature and a life with few ecological footprint.
The volunteering in Epi de Mains will be an unforgettable experience.
