The social and cultural center "Marie-Jeanne Bassot" is an association of the 1901 law, which was created in 2004. Referring to the charter of the "Social and Sociocultural Centers of France", the Social Center "Marie-Jeanne Bassot" is a center of initiatives supported by associated inhabitants and supported by professionals, capable of defining and implementing a social development project for the entire population of a territory.

From the analysis of its environment and by adapting its practice, our association aims to:
- fight against all forms of exclusion and create social ties
- Encourage the meeting of individuals, families and associations, thus giving them the possibility of participating in educational and socio-cultural activities.
- Manage, animate, promote, support and encourage the creation and development of social, family, medico-social or cultural initiatives in the commune of Sangatte.

The association allows residents:
- to be actors of their life,
- to be active citizens responsible for a collective dynamic,
- to access culture.

The social and cultural center welcomes all inhabitants with respect for their social origins, their political, philosophical and confessional convictions, but without any proselytism. In this sense, our association fights against all forms of exclusion and discrimination and promotes the meeting and recognition of individuals. The association now has 15 employees, around thirty volunteers and more than 1,000 users from infancy to senior citizens.
